Senior Officer Afloat

Oct. 20, 2000 - present

From the Article 18 of the Decree published on Oct. 19, 2001, in the Diario Oficial de la Federación, comming into effect a day later.

"Article 18.- The Bandera Gallardetón is the ensign of the Senior Officer Afloat, it is a green equilateral triangle that shall be hoisted over the starboard band's penultimate rope of the masthead.
This pennant shall not be downed by any flag or ensign...".

Nov. 25, 1994 - Oct. 19, 2000

The "Reglamento de Uniformes y Divisas de la Armada" issued in Diario Oficial de la Federación on November 25, 1994, in effect on day 26 of the same month, states on the ensign for the Senior Officer Afloat (Comandante más antiguo en reunión de buques) as follows:

"CHAPTER II. On the 'banderas insignias' (ensigns)

Earlier Senior Officer Afloat ensign

The "Ordenanza General de la Armada" (General Ordinance of the Navy) describes the ensign as follows:

"Green equal-side pennant. It shall be hoisted on the foremast without lowering the Masthead Pennant."
